Stehekin is a small isolated community located at the head end of Lake Chelan with approximately 75 full time residents. There are no roads into Stehekin. The only access is by boat up the 55 mile long Lake or by Floatplane. In addition, there is a small local landing strip open in the summer months (identifier 6S9) There is also ample room for a private Helipad on the property. There are approximately 7 miles of paved road and an additional 15 miles of gravel road in the valley. Vehicles are barged up the lake along with other supplies. In the summer months there is a daily passenger boat uplake from Chelan with reduced service to 3 days a week in the winter.
This secluded wilderness retreat is built on 3 acres of private land in the middle of the Lake Chelan National Recreation Area. There are 413 acres of private land located in parcels within the LCNRA' s 62,000 acres. There are two 500 gallon Propane Tanks offering 1000 gallons of propane storage (approx 2 yr supply) There is no cell, internet or telephone service in the valley so a commercial high bandwidth satellite system has been installed complete with backup. A sophisticated commercial grade internet, telephone and television distribution system is available throughout the property. The valley has ample game including deer, Elk, Bear and as mentioned world class fishing on the "glacier-fed wilderness river" There is a local K‐8 one room log school in the valley.
The main house has 3000+ Square feet with over 1200 Square feet of covered deck area. Additionally there is a semi-finished dry basement, great for storing food supplies as is keeps cool (+/‐ 45 degrees ) year round. The house has wood fireplace and wood stove both capable of keeping the entire home warm on the coldest of winter nights. In addition there is a propane fueled forced air furnace and supplemental electric heat in areas such as the bathrooms for extra warmth. The water from the fabulous well is crystal clear glacier fed and comes out of the ground at approximately 38 degrees year round so we fed and extra line to the furnace heat exchanger providing air conditioning when needed in the warm summer months. Three full bathrooms with showers and tubs compliment the three full size bedrooms and the master bathroom has an additional enclosed steam shower. There are really two full kitchens with the fully equipped butler kitchen boasting an electric stove / oven and sink. The main kitchen has a gas cooktop, double door stainless refrigerator and dishwasher. Full size laundry has ample room for arts and crafts storage. A warm den offers a gas fireplace and cozy feel that surrounds you with book shelves and, of course another great view of Rainbow Falls from the large windows. A wood storage / coat room faces towards the garage and stores and ample supply of wood to keep the house warm on those cold days you don't want to go outside.
