Many kinds of edible fish are available year around. The 3.5 acre property sits on the lake with a 300-400 foot canal which provides lake access year-round. The access to the property from the lake is not easily seen. Seclusion and security is available here on the cleanest lake in the south. There is no industry which uses the water of the Caddo Lake watershed area, and there is little large scale agriculture in this area. Migratory water fowl abound, as well as Eagles, Red Fox, and many kinds of hawk.

Asking $318,000

At around 2,400 square feet, the house is comfortable. The house has zoned, high efficiency air conditioners to keep the house cool in the summer, and gas heat for winter. When needed, we use a 7kw generator which can run one of the ACs and the small appliances. The gas heaters use much less electricity and the generator can easily handle a winter episode. A fireplace uses gas and ceramic logs. It can easily be changed to a wood-burning fireplace. Four bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, and 2 water closets provide for owner privacy and visitor comfort when needed. A small "coat closet" is located near the front door of the house. A walk-in closet in the back room is large enough to make into a small office, eight by sixteen feet. The walk-in closet has its own vent from the AC. There is at least one ceiling fan in each room.

The living area and the kitchen has number 2 Red Oak floors. The kitchen cabinets are of number 1 Red Oak. The kitchen counters are stainless steel. When the house was remodeled, all of the wiring was changed using codes higher than called for in this area. All of the windows were changed to double pained, and plants do well in the sun-room off of the kitchen area. Mature Cedar and Oak trees shade the house most of the day.

Trees; Northern Red Cedar, Post Oak, Willow Oak, Overcup Oak, Sweet Gum, Bald Cypress, Magnolia, Fig, Mayhaw, several Pecan trees that the squirrels enjoy, and too many more to count. Several of the Cypress trees are over 4 feet in diameter.

The house is located a the end of a paved road, and not easily seen until one drives into the yard. It is located at the end of an FM [Farm to Market] road, also paved. The community is small and secure because of its location. The lake can be used for float planes, and a small private strip is available close to the community. Other, larger airports are located within 40 miles, including Shreveport Regional Airport, and Harrison County Airport.

Shreveport, Louisiana is home to 5 riverboat casinos, a large horse racing track, and has recently become the Louisiana Hollywood. Shreveport is on Interstate 20, 35 miles away. Marshall, Texas is located on the intersection of I-20 and Highway 59, and is 25 miles distance. Dallas, Texas is 185 miles and Houston, Tx is 220 miles from our Caddo Lake residence.

Caddo Lake is on the fly-way for ducks and geese. Duck blinds are on the lake and can be used by anyone. No new blinds are allowed, but one can upgrade any of the available ones, and be the first there for a morning hunt. Many folks hunt ducks/geese in the morning and fish for White Perch after the hunt. Fried White Perch and/or duck gumbo makes for a very good meal on a cool winter afternoon. Whitetail Deer are plentiful as are squirrel and rabbit. The Bald Eagle has now made permanent residence on Caddo Lake. There are Eagle nests close by the property. As an amateur birder, I have

plenty of additions to my life list of birds.

This community has DSL for those who want fast internet service. We have satellite tv, which happens to be bundled with the telephone and the internet.

Texas has no income-tax. Revenue is generated by property tax, and this area is in one of the lowest in the state. After age 65, the tax is frozen at the last rate for the owner prior to turning that age.

The house sits on a slab, and could easily be adapted to the needs of a handicapped person. The medical needs of the community is served by either of the cities located within 35 miles.

The barn has 2 bays, a room, and an area possibly used as a poultry pen. The greenhouse is in need of some repair. It could easily be torn down or given a face-lift to be used as one wishes. There is a boat shed at the end of the canal. It is small, but can handle my 22 foot pontoon boat and of course anything smaller. It has electricity which we use for a water pump. I use a 1 hp pump that puts out 750 gallons per hour. This water is for the garden and the lawn when needed. The barn, greenhouse, and the boat dock has electricity.

At the rear of the house is a chain-link fence for the dogs.

We are asking $318,000.

Home: 903-679-4354

Cell: 903-679-4354

E-mail: vmcj2@yahoo.com

The property has all the benefits of good living, great areas to entertain and many outdoor activities such as canoeing on the two acre lake, ice skating in the winter, riding horses or four wheelers on the five miles of trails as well as an abundance of wild game such as whitetail and mule deer, turkey, rabbit, fox, geese, squirrels, and an ever so occasional bear. The fishing and hunting are an outdoorsman's dream come true.

The property itself consists of 65 acres with about 10 in open area divided equally between paddocks for horses or livestock and yard area for children. The house is approximately 4500 sq. ft. above ground, and 1000 sq. ft. underground, and is the place where fun country living meets the modern world.

The largest aspect that makes this property a survival retreat, besides the acreage, abundance of wildlife (a natural food supply), spring-fed lake (water and fish), and the private location, is that there is an underground 4 x 4 ft. wide 60 ft. tunnel connecting the house to an 850 sq. ft. underground hardened structure with 12" by 12" full rebar and cell filled cinderblock structure. The entrance and exits are custom built steel doors that would be hard for a crane to pull off. It contains its own full bathroom, own bedroom, large living and sleeping area with an adjoining dining area. The entrance from the house can only be accessed from a hidden room behind a wall. The shelter has its own air and water supply (270 ft. well, not easily contaminated) and the outside entrance is hidden as well. THere are too smaller rooms (food and equipment room and generator room), the outer rooms have their own gun ports and defensive mechanisms. Both these rooms would have to be breach individually before any attempt on the main structure.

This structure also has a separate hidden room with its own air and water supply in case the structure was ever breached. (For the women and children, the men would hopefully have the "from my cold dead hands" approach.) If you utilize the gun ports it could never be breached. If gas or flamethrowers were attempted, they would only penetrate the outer rooms, and the main shelter would remain untouched. This room is far enough underground (5+ ft.) that gamma rays could not penetrate, in the event Iran or another country go nuclear, and the winds spread the poison air. The property is located far enough into the country and away from large population centers that the worry of chemical or biological fallout is not that great of an issue. Short of a direct missile hit or nearby meteor strike, your family will be safe. And it could very well stand up to the shockwaves of a meteor strike. This was designed and built for my family, and I spared no expense.

This property offers all this plus one h*ll of a house and true country beauty.

Contact

living_safe@hotmail.com

The Virginia Retreat

6002 Pollard Dr.

Richmond, VA 23226

www.virginiashelter.info

Make your new home in affordable, tranquil, rural Hudspeth County, Texas (Population density 0.7 person/sq.mi). In area, it is the state's third-largest county - in fact, larger than Delaware and Rhode Island combined. You're going to love the low taxes & car insurance, as well as the 4-season climate. Plus it's hard to imagine anywhere in the 'Lower 48' that's so close to big-city-life and yet so remote. You'll be at 'Hueco Village' (not even on the maps -- in 2004 there were 44 registered voters in its 208 square mile area). This property is a tad over ten acres, 2 miles south of the Carlsbad Highway (US HWY 62-180 - the extension of Montana St., as it's known in El Paso) on county-maintained roads that generally get as much horse traffic as auto. However, nestled in these gently-rolling hills, with the lay-of-the-land, and High Chaparral vegetation, you'll find yourself quite invisible from the highway.

The house is a mega-insulated, double-wide Palm Harbor MH, featuring 4 bedrooms, 2 ½ baths, along with a spacious living room, dining room, large den, 'parents' retreat' (computer room) in master bedroom (bath has 'sunken' tub, with separate shower); a new add-on room (to the den) can be made a spare bedroom, giving you 5 for family gatherings/stayovers. What's more, it all faces south; giving mucho savings on heating/AC. FULL big city amenities, abound: new dishwasher, range, microwave, roof, flooring in living and dining rooms; includes electric, propane, water system, septic, Direct TV, phone & DSL Internet. Fireplace comes with 3-years' supply of seasoned hardwood firewood.

Thinking about self-sufficiency? There's more-than-adequate sun and wind should you decide to go with solar and/or wind turbines.

Like deer, rabbit, turtles (even the occasional antelope) in your backyard? How about quail, eagle & (real) roadrunners? Your nearest neighbor is ¼ mi. This is ranching country; bring along your horses, dogs - even cattle; although your mail delivery even has an El Paso zipcode: 79938. If you're concerned about your level of preparedness, yet still crave the 'city touch,' this is the ideal family home/survival retreat for you. For less than 100K - yet only 35 minutes from Eastside El Paso, and the border beyond! $99,995. REASONABLE offers considered.

dianainsac@yahoo.com (915) 799-0210 (kindly leave message & callback number, should no-one be in). This property is located in a very remote; surrounded by BLM land for many miles.

It is the only private land for 12 miles. There are hidden caves which I will show to the new owner. These caves have not likely seen any humans besides myself and my boys.

The property comes with 2.3 acre feet of water, which needs to be drilled, but we have three thousand gallons of storage. We collect the rain and snow runoff from our roofs and that provides us with ample water for the year and then some. There are also a couple hundred thousand gallons stored very close which I will discuss with the new owner as well.

This house is not fancy or elegant but it is a great start for a true survivalist on a budget.

We do not have septic, instead, we re-use our gray water for gardening. As far as sewage, we do not produce any sewage other than a small amount from a high-tech toilet called a BIOLET. These are composting toilets that are amazing, check them out on the net.

Plenty of hunting; there are deer, rabbit, and quail on our property every day. The taxes are only $430 a year because we only have an acre. It feels like so much more property because the BLM land goes on and on. Step outside the front door and you can fire a pistol, throw knives, strip naked, whatever! We pay what little bills we have by way of an internet business, and this year we will have a number of TBH beehives (Plenty of wildflowers to harvest honey). We will happily teach these skills to the new owner.

There is no real garage but we built a cob house with a metal roof, it's plenty big enough for a car although we use it for water storage. We paid 110K for the bunker then put 15K into framing, and drywall, another 5K into the heater and AC. Several thousand into our water system, and finally got the water from the state which was a grant, but if you tried to buy it, it would have cost around 25K. We are open to any reasonable offer!

This is a die-hard survivalist home so don't bother buying it if you can't handle the work and isolation. We are finally adapting and it took us three years. I live here with children who actually love it now that they have gotten used to it. We are moving to an area where we can build a cob house. The pictures do not include photos of the new cabinets, closet shelves, or heater and AC.

Call Corey at (435) 313-4312 for questions or inquiries.
