Underground Mine for Sale

We are offering for SALE our underground mine, It is a Federal Mine claim through the BLM. Intent to hold must be recorded with the County recorders office $40 and $165 to the BLM in Salt Lake City Utah on or before Sept 1st of each year. The mine claim is a hardrock mine 1,500 ft long by 600 ft wide, the mine was created during the 1940s during the war. They were minging Scheelite ore which is tungsten and silver being the secondary mineral. The mine was a fallout shelter for the County during the cold war, when we where children we would see the atomic sign on the old road going to the mine. A couple thousand souls could hold out here in a disaster scenario. With rising prices of scheelite in the future and being a strategic mineral it is very feasible that this mine could again be mined for scheelite, about half way in there is also a complex sulfide ore vein about 4 ft wide in the side wall of the mine, the ore grade for Gold and silver vary’s depending on what part of the vein a sample is taken, it is a beautiful ore, one sample I sent to ALS chemex 30 years ago went as hi as 28 ppm in AU and was about 6-7 ounces in AG to the ton, if any new owner had funds to chase this vein anything could happen. The mine is strong–no shoring was ever needed and there is good air all the way in to the end. The mine is huge, a pick up truck could fit inside, a Generator at the mine entrance behind a locked gate could be vented to the outside with lighting strung through the tunnel and hung on existing wire hangers or solar panel, there is a total of 239 yards of tunnel, being average height of 8-10 ft by 9-10 ft wide, there are a few side tunnels, one at 17 yards, another at 16 yards and another at about 10 yards, at these junctions it creates open area about 30 ft wide, in the back of the mine the old timers dug a small tunnel 10 ft straight down when they hit open pockets and they ended up breaking into a natural cavern, about 20 ft wide by about 35 ft long with a tallest height being about

20,000 Square Foot Limestone Cave

This hidden natural underground shelter is private and secluded. It is located on 90 acres of forest land in Northern Arkansas. My good friend has passed away and he has willed this property to me. But I live in Washington State so I am putting this property up for sale. If you have been looking for your own personal safe place, you already know properties like this don’t come along very often.

Here’s what I know about it:

There is water phone and power on the property. The 90 acres is made up of four separate tax parcels. Although the property is very private and secluded, it is only a 20 minute drive to a very nice little town with a population of 2900 people. The drive to town is on one mile of good gravel road and the rest on well maintained paved county roads.

The cave itself was surveyed in 1977. See enclosed photo of that map. It is from that map that I estimate the area of the cave to be around 20,000 square feet. According to my friend however, there are more passage ways leading to as yet unexplored areas of the cave system that only he knew about. The first large room inside the cave is roughly 60 feet around and 3,000 square feet with a ceiling height of 15 to 20 feet. The soil here is deep and rich. It was in this room that my friend ran his business of raising earthworms. For many years he shipped his worms and worm castings to all parts of the US. He took great pride in showing off the power of his worm casting fertilizer with his 12 foot tall tomato plants.

There is a 200 amp service panel inside the cave entrance, and light chords strung for most of the cave length. There is also a fresh water seep in the ceiling of the cave near the entrance that he tapped into and piped back for use in the worm room. The earthworms were raised by the millions in the yellow tubs and blue plastic swimming pools you see in the pictures. The unsold worm castings were simply added to the already rich soil of the worm room.

At the entrance to the property there is a dilapidated single wide mobile home with scrap iron and beer cans strewn about and a very intimidating sign on the gate. This was

Looking for a home that can survive the very worst?

From storm shelter and safe room into home construction is a common practice, in order to protect the residents against tornados or earthquakes. For more extreme disasters, there are more in-depth preparations and defenses.

You will even find former missile silos, built during the height of the Cold War. These have security and blast resistant construction that can withstand any attack. In some cases they have been sold to the public, and converted into private homes or commercial spaces, offering the opportunity to live or work in a truly secure location.

Many custom homes are designed with forethought for hidden safe rooms or vaults. If a home is built from scratch, it’s easy to include these special features. In these homes, the garage, basement, or shed may hide a whole underground living space, ready to provide safety for the occupants, with a separate air and water supply, and sometime even a secret escape tunnel.
